Chain stitch (ch)
The stitch that starts almost everything. How to work it evenly, count it and use it for turning.

- Foundation rows, turning chains, spaces, loops and buttonholes.
How to work it
- Yarn over (wrap the yarn over the hook from back to front).
- Pull the yarn through the loop on the hook.
Tips
- Keep chains loose. Tight chains make the foundation row pull in.
- Count the V shapes on the front of the chain, not the loop on the hook.
- Use a larger hook for the chain if your foundation row keeps pulling up.
